Your baby's safety comes first. We're here to help you understand harness fit and feel confident using your seat from day one.
The straps should sit at or just below your baby's shoulders. With the no-rethread harness, just slide the headrest up or down to move the straps into place.
The chest clip should sit even with your baby's armpits. It slides easily along the straps, so a quick push gets it in the right spot.
The included infant insert helps smaller babies fit the harness from day one. Not every baby needs it. If your baby's chin drops toward their chest, check the recline and try the fit without it.
Made with fabric free from fire retardant chemicals, ensuring no harmful chemicals are used in any of the seat fabrics.
Features European Belt Routing for secure installation without the base, and is FAA certified for safe aircraft use
Buckling is made effortless by magnetic strap holders and a no-rethread harness that adjusts instantly - even when baby is in the seat
The removable infant insert is designed to provide better fit and body positioning for babies approximately 4–11 lbs.

If you're comparing the best rated infant car seat or the best rated rear facing car seat, the Mesa is built around the feature parents value most: a genuinely simple, secure installation.
The SMARTSecure System installs the base in seconds and confirms a tight fit, while European Routing lets you install the carrier on its own for quick trips. Paired with Advanced Side Impact Protection and a 25-position headrest that grows with your baby, the Mesa is a strong pick for parents searching for a best rated newborn car seat ahead of their first ride home.
Read verified reviews from UPPAbaby parents to see how the Mesa performs from the first ride home through the infant year, and see why it's frequently named among the best rated car seat options for new parents. Every Mesa is GREENGUARD Gold certified, meets federal safety standards, and clicks directly onto the Vista and Cruz strollers to form a complete travel system.
Head to the Car Seat Center for step-by-step install help, or the Infant Car Seat Fit Guide to double-check the fit before your first ride.
