A Type 2 belt that includes lap and shoulder belts must be used.
Refer to vehicle’s owner manual for information regarding booster use with vehicle seats that have inflatable seat belts.
The Alta is a high-back belt positioning booster and must be used with seat back attached, thus providing superior side impact protection.
You can machine wash the Alta seat fabrics on the gentle cycle. The seat base fabric conveniently zips off for easy cleaning. Lay flat to dry. We recommend spot cleaning the upper body fabric whenever possible.
The Alta comes with a cup holder that can be attached to either side of the seat. An extra cup holder accessory will also be available. The cup holder is dishwasher-safe, top rack only.
Proper height of the headrest and belt guides are critical for optimal performance. The headrest should rest just above the top of the child’s shoulders ensuring the shoulder belt guide is properly positioned. The child’s ears must be below the top of the Alta’s headrest.
Once buckled, the vehicle belt must pass completely through the shoulder belt guide hook to prevent it from falling off the child’s shoulder. The vehicle lap belt must lie flat and snug across the child’s upper thighs and not across the child’s abdomen. Both the lap and shoulder belt must route under the Alta's armrest.
The Alta uses rigid LATCH connectors to position the booster in the vehicle. The vehicle lap-shoulder belt is used for securing the child within the seat.
Children should stay in the Alta, until adult seat belts fit correctly, usually when children are at least 57” tall.
To ensure a child is ready for a seat belt, the following is recommended:
The shoulder belt should cross their collar bone then cross their chest cavity
The lap belt should sit across their lower hip bones and never across their belly
Knees should bend at the edge of the vehicle seat cushion
No slouching; a child should be mature enough to sit with the seat belt
positioned properly as indicated above
The child’s back should rest flat against the vehicle seat back
We recommend children ride in a forward-facing harness seat until the maximum height or weight requirements are met. We do not promote use of the Alta until a child is approximately 6 years old and fits within the appropriate weight (40 - 100 lbs) and height (38 - 57”) requirements.
