UPPAbaby recommends transitioning your child out the MESA V2 by their first birthday or the 1-inch rule, whichever comes first. The 1-inch rule is applied when your child is using the headrest in its highest position and when the top of their head is less than 1-inch from the top of the headrest structure. Please note that transition should also occur when your child meets the 35 lb weight limit.
The MESA V2 has new added safety features which includes European belt routing, 20% larger UPF canopy, larger headrest, more robust infant inlay and a 4th rebound carry handle position for vehicle use.
If a proper angle cannot be achieved with the adjustable foot, a rolled towel may be used.
There is a belt path feature added to the back of the MESA V2 carrier. During carrier-only installation, the shoulder belt can be wrapped around the back of the carrier for a more secure install to the vehicle seat. In the event of a collision, this type of installation helpsdecrease the force on a baby’s shoulders and neck by limiting a downward motion in a frontal crash.
The MESA V2 carrier directly attaches to VISTA and CRUZ strollers, with no adapters needed creating a Performance Travel System. The MESA V2 can also attach to the RIDGE and MINU stroller with the use of adapters. It can be used parent-facing or forward-facing on all four strollers.
Yes, you must remove the MESA V2 before folding the VISTA, CRUZ, RIDGE or MINU stroller.
UPPAbaby prohibits the use of inflatable seat belts with the MESA V2. Lower anchor install is a great alternative.
The base is not required to achieve a safe and secure install. The lap belt routes through the guides on the carrier that are located near the carry handle, and the shoulder belt routes behind the carrier through the guide located above the carrier release from base handle. Reference the MESA V2 manual and vehicle manual for seat belt installation guidance.
Ensure the red line on the side of the carrier is parallel to the vehicle floor rather than the ground outside the vehicle. Ensure the back angle of the carrier stays in the correct position and the carry handle is placed in the 4th position.
You cannot install with both systems. Both are incredibly effective on their own for proper installation.
When installing in a vehicle, the MESA V2 can make contact with the front vehicle seat if it does not impact the installation of the car seat and is approved by the vehicle manufacturer. The MESA V2 base must remain in full contact with the vehicle seat surface.
Yes, the MESA V2 carrier is FAA approved when used according to the instruction manual We suggest you travel with your MESA V2 in flight for optimal safety. The MESA base is not approved for aircraft use.
The MESA V2 seat pad, infant insert, buckle pad, and shoulder pads can be machine washed on the gentle cycle. Lay flat to dry. We recommend spot cleaning the canopy and plastic parts. The harness webbing should be cleaned with warm water and dish soap.

The harness pads are optional. They may need to be removed when using the MESA V2 with a smaller child to achieve proper harness tightness and chest clip placement.
